YWCA-Tulsa
Welcome Week

YWCA-Tulsa, a prominent organization dedicated to promoting racial and gender equity, hosted their annual Welcome Week event in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Welcome Week is a vibrant celebration of diversity and unity, featuring a wide range of activities for kids, informative resource booths, music, and a variety of food trucks. The event serves as a powerful platform to foster connections, raise awareness, and inspire change within the community. Mischief & Co was hired to document the spirit of Welcome Week.

The primary goal of the photoshoot for Welcome Week was to capture images that would be used for promotional materials, social media, and future fundraising efforts. The aim was to showcase the colorful and inclusive nature of the event, highlighting the various activities and the joyful atmosphere that prevailed throughout the day.

Preparation

Before the event, we met with YWCA-Tulsa's event organizers to understand the event's schedule, key participants, and the desired tone for the photos. This allowed for us to plan our shots, ensuring that we would be in the right place at the right time to capture pivotal moments.

Event Day

Welcome Week took place on a sunny Saturday at the YWCA’s east lawn. We arrived early to set up our equipment and familiarize ourselves with the layout of the event. We began by photographing the setup process, capturing the volunteers and organizers hard at work to bring the event to life.

Throughout the day, we moved among the various activities, taking candid shots of children engaged in learning and play, families enjoying the food trucks, attendees visiting informative resource booths, and people gathered around the DJ's booth. We took special care to document the diversity of the attendees, showcasing people of different ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities coming together.

It was vital that we be respectful and mindful of the fact that each attendee may not be comfortable and willing to be photographed. We utilized photo release forms and had YWCA volunteers help us to translate to ensure that we gained permission for all photographs taken and used.

Post-Production

In the post-production phase, the images from YWCA-Tulsa's Welcome Week were refined to capture the event's essence effectively. This involved careful selection of the best shots, color correction, cropping, and composition adjustments. Minor retouching and background cleanup were performed. The client, YWCA-Tulsa, reviewed and approved the final images. ready for use in marketing and fundraising endeavors. This post-production process elevated the images into valuable assets for promoting YWCA-Tulsa's mission and community engagement efforts.
